Day by Day Review: 2010 Acura TSX V6 Tech acura

Driving the TSX V6 this week reminded me of one Honda’s great vehicles, the V6-powered, six-speed manual Accord Coupe I tested a few years ago. The TSX has a similar feel, minus the six-speed manual transmission, unfortunately — let’s hope for a Type-S version of this car, and soon!

Despite the lack of human-transmission interaction, the Acura TSX V6 is still a fun car to drive and a sedate cruiser on the highway, and in this segment that is what most people are looking for. A turbo four-cylinder engine may be a blast as well, but it would not feel as laid-back as a larger V6 does.

I averaged a respectable 9.3L/100km with the TSX over the week; I feel I could have done better but spent a lot of time idling (more so than typical) and more time on the go-pedal. Instantaneous fuel readouts on the highway were close to 7.0 L/100km.

What conclusions have I come to about the V6 TSX? How about this one: If you are looking for a TSX and want an automatic transmission, just splurge for the V6 — you’ll love it. If you are dead set on a manual, get the four, as you have no other choice, and honestly, it’s still a great engine!
